A Better Way to Give

2022 Initiatives

Supporting Children’s Needs in Africa

Launching the Ga Mashie 360 Learning centre in Jamestown Ghana to support the needs of children in the local community. Changing African Lives Foundation (CALF) was set up to support children in different countries in Africa. Our area’s of support are HEALTH – FOOD – EDUCATION.

Decorating Changing African Lives

We had been looking for a property in or around the James Town area in Accra for a number of years. We found a property previously used as a bar. We paid for the lease and immediately started decorating.

Building

We used artisans from the local community to do all the joinery, painting and decorating, to create the fixtures and all the exterior work.

Education is the transmission of knowledge and skills and the development of character traits. Formal education occurs within a structured institutional framework, such as public schools, following a curriculum. Non-formal education also follows a structured approach but occurs outside the formal schooling system, while informal education involves unstructured learning through daily experiences. Formal and non-formal education are categorized into levels, including early childhood education, primary education, secondary education, and tertiary education. Other classifications focus on teaching methods, such as teacher-centered and student-centered education, and on subjects, such as science education, language education, and physical education. Additionally, the term "education" can denote the mental states and qualities of educated individuals and the academic field studying educational phenomena.

Within a couple of months our new Ga Mashie 360 learning centre was complete. Fitted with a library, computer centre and staffed with four teachers to support the children’s learning daily.

Raising Awareness and Education:

Public Awareness Campaigns: this is crucial to dispel some myths and misconceptions surrounding this condition and consequences such as,

  • Children can be neglected & abandoned
  • Isolation
  • Feelings of shame & low self esteem
  • As an NGO providing accurate information about causes , treatment and outcomes . Communities can be empowered to make informed decisions and support individuals with this condition
  • Transport Facilitation:Transportation costs can be a significant barrier, especially for families in rural areas or with limited financial resources. As an NGO we help to pay transport for one parent with child or One Adult.
  • Follow-Up: after treatment we follow up to know how the patients are and to make sure he healing process is going on well .
